Our Committee

Our Committee are dedicated to ensuring our Members learn, have fun and encourage them to get involved with local Charities and Projects.

Steve Platt
Our Chairman

Steve is our MCC Chairman, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the club.

A bit from Steve:
I joined MCC during lockdown and my first experience was meeting club members via Zoom. Since then I have been a contributing member to the club and my experience is that the MCC members are a friendly and social group of people.

I like all genres of photography especially still life. My main camera is a Nikon Z6 with various lenses.

Ken Blease
Our Club Secretary

Ken is pretty much the glue for the Club, keeping an eye on the Syllabus, a great speaker enthralling members with Technical talks (with Dad Jokes thrown in too)

A bit from Ken:
I joined MCC in 2012 and have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of such a dynamic club. At MCC, we try to focus on the practical side of photography and to provide photographic opportunities for members to enjoy in a safe, friendly and inclusive environment. I would like to think that stuffy and pretentious we are not!
From my own experience, I really do feel that the best way for budding photographers to improve their skills is to join a local, friendly and welcoming camera club – and I would say that MCC certainly fits the bill!

In 2019 I volunteered to act as club secretary, and working with our great committee has proved to be a very rewarding and satisfying role. I am particularly proud of the club’s involvement with our local hospices, providing photographic cover of their fundraising activities.
I enjoy most photographic genres, but especially silhouetted landscape shots and long exposures, and in the autumn I am often found in local woodlands searching for fungi for macro focus stacks.

Rhoma Bogg
Our Club Treasurer

Rho is our Club Treasurer keeping an eye on our finances and ensuring the Club is on a even financial footing.

She’s also fundamental in ensuring the Christmas Pizza and Quiz Extravaganza night is well catered for.

A bit from Rho:
Narrative I joined the club in 2007 after Tony Culpin suggested I ‘pop down’ after seeing some of my photos from a work trip to Venice. 18 years on I’m now the treasurer and an active member of the club. My favourite photography themes are sports and intentional camera movement (ICM) but I’m happy to have a go at anything and help wherever I can with any camera or PC challenges that our members have.

Tony Culpin
The Guru

Tony has a wealth of knowledge across all kinds of photography, he is THE Guru on all things photography within the club

A bit from Tony:
I set up the club in June 2000 with like minded friends from the rugby club. Over the years the club has grown and matured and now has over 30 members. The main ethos of the club was to be open, friendly and helpful to all who came. We are still that club. My photo interests are many and varied, basically I have a go at anything and I’m always happy to help members with any issue they may have. The image above is me, I should be facing the other way.

Phil Morris
Equipment Manager and Charity Lead

Phil is our main Charity liaison, along with Ken we try to ensure we get all our nominated charity events covered for photography. He also helps manager the Studio kit the Club has purchased over the years, so challenges Rhoma’s Treasurer skills!

Over 2025, he has also revolutionised our Competition, with an Competition uploader, Scoring webpages and Viewing App, also in 2026 he’s launched this new website.

A bit from Phil:
I was encouraged to join MCC back around 2014 because it’s a friendly, fun, non-stuffy, very inclusive club!

🎗️ At MCC We have a proud tradition of helping local charities! We capture fundraising events with the view to promoting them. This saves charities hundreds if not thousands of pounds, that are much better spent on patient care. It also provides our members some great opportunities to get out shooting 📸 a wonderful partnership 🤝🏼

Martin Davis
Our Latest Committee Member

I joined MCC at the end of 2025 after stumbling across the club on an Out-and-About shoot. I was encouraged to come along to a club evening and joined straight away.
I have been a keen photographer for years but the club is just what I needed to get out more and gain new skills whether it be asking silly questions or just watching and learning from a varied and friendly bunch of people.

Important Club Members

Graham Gibbons
Our Out and About Leader

Whilst not on the Committee, it would be remiss of us not mentioning Graham, he spends many hours scouting places for our members to go out and shoot, it’s worth noting he has an excellent record on the weather for his Out and About with Graham evenings
